National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC)

NMEC: A Journey Through Time at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) is not just a museum; it is a celebration of the Egyptian spirit through the ages. Located in the historic city of Fustat, this world-class institution was the focal point of the world's attention during the "Golden Parade" of the kings and queens of Egypt. The Ultimate Museum Experience: Spanning over 33 acres, the NMEC is the first of its kind in the Arab world to focus exclusively on the entirety of Egyptian civilization. From the dawn of history, through the Pharaonic, Greco-Roman, Coptic, and Islamic eras, down to the present day, the museum tells a continuous story of innovation and culture. Key Highlights at NMEC: The Royal Mummies Hall: The museum’s crown jewel. Descend into a specially designed hall that mimics the Valley of the Kings, where you can come face-to-face with Egypt’s greatest pharaohs, including Ramses II and Queen Hatshepsut. The Main Hall: A vast gallery showcasing the "dawn of civilization," featuring artifacts that highlight Egyptian achievements in medicine, writing, agriculture, and art. The Panoramic View: Enjoy the stunning outdoor terrace overlooking Ain El-Sira Lake, offering a perfect backdrop for photography. Textile & Craftsmanship: Explore specialized galleries dedicated to the history of Egyptian textiles and the evolution of traditional crafts. Traveler Tips for Etro Tours Guests: Best Time to Visit: We recommend visiting in the morning to enjoy the natural light in the main hall and the serene lake views. The Mummies Experience: Photography is strictly prohibited inside the Mummies Hall to preserve the dignity of the remains; however, the rest of the museum is a photographer's paradise. Combined Experience: NMEC is perfectly located to be combined with a tour of Old Cairo’s Religious Complex, which is only a short drive away.
